About Us

We are a Reggio Emilia-inspired, emergent curriculum-based early learning center in Waltham, MA. We provide a rigorous yet responsive educational program for children from 1 month old through Kindergarten, designed to nurture capable, curious learners until they are ready to transition seamlessly into elementary school.

Our Educational

Philosophy

Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that children are competent, curious, and rich with potential. We see the environment as the "third teacher," and our blended indoor and outdoor classrooms are intentionally designed to provoke inquiry, discovery, and collaborative project work.

By creating a beautiful, home-away-from-home atmosphere, we empower children to take an active role in their own learning journey.

Who We Are

Discovery Village was founded in Waltham in 2018 by Laura Harrington, who believed in doing things differently. Laura set out to create a center that moves beyond traditional childcare, establishing a true learning laboratory where children can explore the world around them through a curriculum that emerges from their own interests and questions.

Laura believes this innovative, research-supported approach gives children a profound academic and emotional head start, fostering not only exploration and discovery but also emotional intelligence, communication skills, and the ability to build strong, positive relationships.

Discovery in Action

Let Your Child’s Curiosity Lead the Way

At Discovery Village, we believe that learning isn’t a one-size-fits-all experience, it's a journey filled with wonder. Our curriculum is designed to nurture your child's natural curiosity, guiding them as they explore the world around them. We embrace the Reggio Emilia-inspired approach, which celebrates children as capable and curious learners who construct their own knowledge through meaningful, hands-on experiences.

Your child’s questions and ideas are at the heart of their learning, allowing them to engage in projects that spark joy, build confidence, and encourage them to think critically about the world. Whether it’s investigating a bug in the garden or creating a story in our art studio, every moment is a chance for your child to grow and shine.

Your child’s interests lead the way, creating deep, personal connections to their learning.

From day one, we encourage your child to think for themselves, explore solutions, and ask “why?”

Every classroom and space is intentionally designed to spark discovery and support your child’s journey.

Here, learning is an adventure that never ends, where every day is a new opportunity for growth, discovery, and joy.

The Empowered Educator Framework

Empowering Our Educators to Inspire Greatness

The heart of Discovery Village is our incredible team of educators. They don’t just teach; they care deeply, listen intently, and nurture each child’s unique potential. Our approach to staff development is rooted in the belief that when educators feel respected, valued, and empowered, they create an environment where children thrive.

We are committed to providing our teachers with the support they need to grow, both personally and professionally. With competitive pay, recognition, and ongoing development, we ensure that our team members are always evolving in their practice and leadership.

We invest in our educators so they can invest in your child.

Our culture is built on open communication, collaboration, and deep respect for every staff member.

We provide clear guidance, empowering our educators to lead with passion, creativity, and care.

When we empower our educators, we empower your child’s future.

The Village Circle

A Village That Grows Together

At Discovery Village, we know that it takes a village to raise a child, and we invite you to be part of that village. Our community isn’t just about dropping off and picking up, it’s about building deep, meaningful connections with families, educators, and the world around us. The Village Circle is where these relationships flourish, creating a place of belonging, trust, and love.

We cherish the opportunity to work alongside families to nurture every child’s potential. Through regular communication, family involvement, and shared experiences, we create a community where every voice is heard and every family is valued. Whether it’s through participating in school events or collaborating on projects that bring our community together, we ensure that every family feels connected and supported.

Join us in shaping our school culture and building lasting relationships through the Family Involvement Team (FIT).

With our Procare App, you’ll always know how your child is doing, from their latest achievements to their favorite moments of the day.

We celebrate the diversity of our families and work together to ensure every child feels safe, loved, and supported.

Here, you’re not just a parent…you’re a part of a loving, vibrant community where every child’s journey matters.
